Because we are veterans…
We know the military is more than just some job. We also know the "real world” can be isolating and can lack a sense of purpose. That’s why you should stand with us. We continue to look out for each other and to serve America. Best of all, we have fun doing it with people who understand us.It was the evening of December 5th, 1945, World War II had just ended a few months prior, and earlier in the day flight 19 of the Navy disappeared off the coast of Florida on the way to the Bahamas for a practice bombing run.
But here in Murfreesboro, TN in the James K. Pold Ball room a group of 25 veterans came together to establish The Smith – Rogers – Reeves VFW Post 4575.
The three local men that the post would be named for had all been lost during the war.
Marine Lieutenant Roger Smith – KIA during the invasion of Guam
Army Air Corps Sergeant Edgar L. Rogers – KIA on Attu
Army Air Corps Lieutenant J.W. Reeves – KIA during a bombing mission over Austria.
The first post commander was Earl F. Rees
